Crane Reliability Study — an in-depth analysis of overhead lifting equipment

/INS. Konecranes appreciates that superior knowledge elevates business performance to higher levels. Therefore, the world-leading group of Lifting Businesses™ has developed a Crane Reliability Study (CRS), offering a deeper insight into the condition, safety and efficiency of lifting equipment, thus delivering valuable information to better predict and control the total cost of ownership.

The Crane Reliability Study provides an exhaustive analysis and comprehensive report for all makes and models of overhead lifting equipment, outlining the condition of the crane and its current operating capacity. In addition, a CRS report contains recommendations for the future actions needed to maximize the use of the equipment, thereby enhancing safety, improving performance and increasing reliability.

How can cranes operate more effectively, productively and profitably?

To answer these and other questions CRS uses advanced methods to provide a reliable technology roadmap to guide you through improving equipment performance and reliability. Knowing what specific repairs, upgrades, and modernizations are needed in advance allows the creation of a long-term modernization plan, resulting in maximum productivity and minimum downtime. With this plan, losses in production revenue can be prevented because CRS helps you avoid the unpleasant surprises of sudden breakdowns and unexpected expenses for the repair or replacement of your equipment.

Is your lifting equipment fit for future production needs?

CRS uses advanced technology and methods that penetrate deep into equipment and uncover problems that standard equipment inspections fail to detect. Addressing those problems in advance prevents unplanned downtime and safety issues from occurring.

The results of a CRS allow informed decisions to be made on how to maximize the use of equipment and devise a modernization schedule to increase equipment uptime and improve material handling productivity.

“In this market, CRS is a unique service package, says David Paul, Sales Manager Konecranes Middle East, and explains: “The crane analysis is based on advanced technology from Konecranes. The crane design life, for example, is a complex matter with duty histories, load spectrums and crane classifications, but CRS delivers them in an understandable manner and provides conclusions based on the results”.

The reliable crane analysis: CRS in detail.

The Crane Reliability Study provides an in-depth, reliable analysis for all makes and models of cranes and lifting equipment. It includes a plan that is focused on performance and reliability improvements for cranes and their components.

CRS is comprised of three main actions:

1. Detailed inspection to reveal the current condition of the crane with a focus on safety, productivity, reliability, usability and remaining design life.

2. Process observations, documentation review and interviews to assess current and future needs, the efficiency of the crane operations, user-friendliness, etc.

3. Design life analysis to obtain a clear picture of how much design life the crane and its components have left.

The collected information and experience gained from the maintenance of more than 400,000 cranes helps to build a final report that provides an overview of a crane’s future.

Through its global service network, Konecranes offers specialized maintenance and modernization services for all types of industrial cranes. These services can be applied to a single piece of equipment or across an entire operation, boosting productivity and helping to increase the safety of industrial processes. A commitment to excellence, proactive, and real-time service is one of Konecranes’ strategic priorities. With over 600 service locations in almost 50 countries, the company has the largest service network in the industry, providing high-quality service 24 hours a day.
