Enso Oy is one of Europe’s largest forest industry groups. Enso’s core business is fine papers, publication papers and packaging boards. Enso Oy has an annual turnover of USD 6.5 billion with a production volume of 5,4 million tonnes. Exports and foreign operations account for some 83% of the Group’s sales.

Manufacturing
Enso Packaging Boards Division, has a capacity of more than 1,4 million tonnes per year. Enso Oy is the only company in Europe to offer the widest range of packaging boards from recycled fibres to unbleached and bleached sulphate boards. Imatra Paperboards has four board machines in Imatra, integrated cellulose and CTMP production; three extrusion coating lines, with an annual capacity of 250,000 tonnes and integrated sheet cutting.

Market
Enso’s main market is the EU which accounts for 75% of total exports. Within the EU are the main export countries, depending on the product, the UK, Germany, France and the Netherlands. Other important export markets are East and South East Asia. Enso exports from Finland are worth USD 4.6 billion, which is 11% of Finland’s total export.

Employees
The Enso Group has a total of 19,300 employees.

Ownership
The largest shareholders in Enso Oy are the Finnish state with 45% of the shares. Other large owners are banks and insurance companies. Foreign ownership amounts to approximately 15%.
