Specialists join forces to improve mobile data

Ericsson's Microsoft Mobile Venture development company has established global co-operation with Linq, one of Europe's leading developers of software products for corporate portals. The two companies will jointly run common development projects. One example is the adaptation of the LinqPortal mobile portal solution to Ericsson's Moso technology.

Broad-based co-operation with portal specialist will provide 100 mobile applications and new markets

A long-term co-operative agreement has been concluded between Linq of Sweden, Europe's leading corporate portal specialist and Unisys, the global specialist in E-trade solutions. The details were revealed in connection with the GSM World Congress in Cannes. For Unisys, the agreement will enable the introduction of more than 100 mobile applications for corporate portals, based on the Swedish product. These would be launched within the next 18 months on to over 100 markets across the world. Such portal applications would be offered as "hosted" services. The LinqPortal product has also been chosen to in order to raise Unisys' own productivity in respect of its sales force, part of the group's total of 37 000 staff working in over 100 countries. Finally, this permits global distribution to the operators' market of the LinqPortal and LinqMobilizer products. Since their introduction just over a year ago, a hundred or so licences and installations have already been sold for these services. They have been shown to offer increased efficiency among mobile users, who can then obtain access to their parent company's intranet, central databases and programs via both fixed and mobile units.

Linq presents the first complete company portal in Europe

The Swedish company Linq is now the first company in Europe to present a family of products for building complete company portals. Company portals bring together all the information and other functions that were previously dispersed throughout intranets and in other systems and databases, and makes them manageable and useable. The presentation will take place at Microsoft® Exchange -99 in Hamburg on October 11th - 13th.

The National Pension Insurance Fund (The 6th AP-Fund) and the venture capital company Emerging Technologies invest 9.3 million Euros in the Swedish company Linq, which is opening up an office in London shortly. Linq has developed the product family LinqPortal for complete corporate portals, a fast growing market in both Europe and the U.S. The corporate portals bring all the information and functions that earlier were spread all over the intranet and other technical systems together, and in that way makes it clear and useful. This makes it possible for big companies to function as small companies where all the information is shared between the co-workers.
