På Assa Abloys låsfabrik i Joensuu i östra Finland beslöt man sommaren 2010 att överflytta tyngdpunkten gällande servicen av verktygsmaskinerna från reparation till förebyggande underhåll. Avsikten var att få bättre kontroll över underhållskostnaderna och att förbättra produktiviteten.

Im nordschwedischen Pajala wird nach langer Zeit wieder ein neues Bergwerk gebaut. Ruukki liefert neben den Werkzeugmetallen zusätzlich eine große Aufbereitungshalle. In Kiruna wiederum wird das bestehende Bergwerk um eine neue Sohle in 1 300 meter tiefe erweitert. Beide Produktionsstätten sollen im jahre 2013 in Betrieb genommen werden. Der grund für den „goldrausch“ ist der weltweite nachfrageboom nach Eisenerz.
