Major changes at Hägglunds Drives

A radical image change for Hägglunds Drives includes the adoption of a new generation of the Compact drive, new logo, company slogan, emphasis on Red as our brand color and a mascot named Max.

These introductions come at a time of growth for the company and reflect a desire for improvements in all key markets. Emphasis is placed on offering customers complete customer adapted drive solutions. Customer requirements for performance and productivity are the focus of the company's operations.

Performance and productivity
The new slogan, "Our Drive is your Performance", will become familiar to customers alongside the Max figure. "We hope customers will take our new mascot Max to heart," says Per Nordgren, recently appointed managing director.

Max is symbolic of Hägglunds determination to combine being a supplier of drive systems, with being a strong partner to customers. The mascot Max will personally offer customers the opportunity to improve performance and productivity.

Nordgren says that in the highly competitive world of drives, suppliers must understand customer needs and fulfil them. He points out that Hägglunds "has good products and system capability, thorough understanding of customer applications, strong customer support as well as geographic coverage." These are clear advantages for competitive success, believes Nordgren.
The company is increasing its presence in key markets such as North and South America that accounts for 30 percent of the business and has considerably more potential.

In regard to this, the company has developed a new range of radial piston motors called Compact CB (Compact generation B). To be available from 2002, this powerful motor range designed into a small package builds upon the success of existing designs, to provide a wider choice of application and performance.
The CB range can provide torques of up to 213,500 Lbf-ft., displacements of between 3.96 and 13.74 gallons and speeds approaching 100 rpm. With improved ability to withstand shock loads and tough environments, they are suitable for many heavy-duty applications.

Significant changes
The activities at Hägglunds are part of significant organizational changes within the overall group to which it belongs. Hägglunds Drives is now part of the Arcorus group. Arcorus is comprised of Hägglunds, GS Hydro and Lidan Marine.
Arcorus president, Anders Lindblad, says that each company will operate independently, but with common goals of becoming leaders in their niche markets. This will be achieved by "developing and marketing qualified/customer oriented hydraulic systems together with after market support".

Another organizational change includes making the Swedish sales organisation an independent company within Hägglunds to give it greater flexibility to compete in its market area.
