Decision Support Panel becomes partner in DWA 2000

Decision Support Panel (DSP), a Swedish software company, meets the partner level requirements for the Data Warehousing Alliance 2000 program. The executives that founded DSP have spent the last seven years creating leading data warehousing solutions based on Microsoft standards. Their current product is a client front-end tool that brings data warehousing functionality to users in Microsoft OutlookÒ.

DSP´s contribution to DWA 2000 is to make OLAP analyses easy to access and to support collaboration. This is made possible by adding OLAP functionality to Microsoft Outlook through integrating Microsoft Office Web Components such as the PivotTable Component for doing the analysis.
"We want our customers to say: No, we don't use complex OLAP tools. We do everything in Outlook", says Peder Ekstrand, CEO of DSP. " In fact, these customers will be accessing business intelligence and OLAP analysis within the environment they know and use every day", Ekstrand continues.
Since the analysis are saved as Outlook objects, the user may easily e-mail the graphs and tables to colleagues for further interactive analysis and to collaborate during the decision making process.
"By using standard Microsoft Office Web Component to bring OLAP functionality to users in Outlook, Decision Support Panel is fully leveraging the Framework to bring business intelligence to the masses", says Andrew Hoover, Group Industry Manager for Business Intelligence/Data Warehousing at Microsoft Corporation
The client integrates seamlessly with Microsoft's Digital Dashboard as well as Corporate Portals and empowers these concepts by turning the analyses into collaborative objects. With DSP Web Access the analyses may be run directly on the Internet and on intranets.
"The Data Warehousing Framework will form the basis for the majority of the data warehouses to be built in the near future", says Peder Ekstrand. "Therefore customers will seek solutions from the best integrated Alliance partners. That is why our commitment is so strong", Ekstrand finishes.
