Innovative range of new vacuum products

A range of new and innovative products has been introduced by Swedish-based vacuum equipment manufacturer, Piab AB. Compact pumps, electronically switched valves and suction cups made from a new kind of plastic are just some of the latest additions to the company's line up providing increased flexibility for process industries which use vacuum technology.

Six new vacuum pumps designed to fulfil a variety of uses will be on display at the Piab stand in Hannover. The robust all-round Classic is made from a composite material and offers cylindrical and conical connections. Available in no fewer than 8 versions, it has been designed to meet the requirements of a variety of industrial applications. The MiniFlex is built around an aluminum profile and uses two mini chip pumps to create a compact multi-application unit while the MidiFlex is the bigger brother of the MiniFlex.
The MiniSystem has been designed to create smart vacuum systems in industrial process environments. The powerful, PPS plastic Round pump, with its in-line design is ideal for installations in confined spaces. And the Sting (Solid Teflon Internal No Gaskets) which has no moving parts, is specifically designed for use in extremely corrosive environments. It so robust that can operate in temperatures ranging from -160 to +200.
An ideal complement to these pumps is the ES-08/1 Energy Saver, a simple, dial controlled unit which allows a stable vacuum to be maintained without the need to constantly run the pump.
New suction cups include the CI suction cup which compen-sates for surface irregularities through the use of a chloroprene foam profile inserted in an acetal plastic fitting. Available with or without a filter, the cup comes in three diameters; 60, 80 and 115 mm. A small, cleated cup designed to lift items vertically and a new bellows cup made from TPU plastic will also be on display. These are designed to handle smooth objects such as windscreens, lenses, surfaces which will be painted, plastic and metal mouldings, etc. which require a very clean surface.
Suction cup connection to vacuum systems is either made via a simple push-on throat or by aluminium fittings. New for 1997 is a Restricted Flow Fitting which helps to reduce vacuum system leakage caused by suction cups which have failed to connect with an object.
The company will also exhibit its full range of electronically switched valves. In all there are 14 versions available offering 5 different capacities.
Piab AB, which was founded in 1952, develops and manu-factures equipment and systems based on vacuum technology. Headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden, this ISO 9001 certified company is represented in more than 30 countries by a net-work of distributors and dealers supplying entire systems, components and service./ins
