Tough portable computer
takes on all conditions

Cold, heat, dust, damp, shock, vibration -they're all shrugged off by one of the world's toughest PC's from Swedish design company Polyamp.
The PC95, as it's called, is intended for harsh conditions in process industries, mines, or aviation, where the demands made on computers are hard to meet.

According to the company, this computer can take on the toughest conditions - dust, humidity, interference, temperatures ranging from -25Ý to +55ÝC (-13Ý to 132ÝF), heavy vibration, or severe shock.
‘There's a big demand for shock-resistant equipment in harsh environments like manufacturing industries, mines, and aviation', says Per Ennerfors of Polyamp.
The PC95, now about to be launched on the civilian market, was initially developed for the Swedish Navy and the tough conditions experienced aboard minesweepers and submarines.
It is based on the Intel 486 chip and can run under DOS, Windows, or Unix. An upgraded version with the fast Pentium chip is due soon, along with a 16-million color screen.

Maximum application
‘This kit is fully modular and can be tailored to customer requirements', says Ennerfors.
The chassis and flat VGA screen module are clad in aluminum, and can take anything up to and including being drenched with water.
The processor card and powerpack have very high operational reliability, claim Polyamp, specialists in DC-DC converters and power-supply systems for power-generation and process industries all over the world./ins
